How do I find general information such as address, owner name, values, and etc. about a parcel?

1.  Perform a search.  By Parcel Identification Number (pin), by name, or by address 

2.  Set your "Active Layer" to Parcels and click on the or click the on the red cross hatched parcel to display the parcel's information.                   

Why can't I see every layer at all extents?

1.  Every layer in this application is set to display at a certain extent. Without a scale, the application will be very slow and disfunctional. For example, while lot dimension would only appear at the neighborhood level, the school district is visible at the county extent.

How do I find my polling place?

1.  Perform a search

2.  Click on the and scroll down to the bottom of the window to find the name and address of your polling place.

3.  Click on the location address and the map will display your parcels address, as well as, the polling place's name and address. 

How do I find out the zip code of a particular parcel?

1. Perform a search

2.  Set your "Active Layer" to Zip Code.

3.  Click on the and click directly on the parcel.

How do I find out what school district I live in?

1.  Perform a search

2.  Set your "Active Layer" to School Districts. 

3.  Click on the and click directly on the parcel.

How do I find out what tax district my parcel is located in?

1.  Perform a search

2.  Set your "Active Layer" to Tax Districts.

3.  Click on the and click directly on the parcel.  

How can I see lot dimensions for my parcel?

1.  Perform a search

2.  Dimensions should be visible once you "Zoom To" the parcel.  If you can't see the dimensions click on the blue dot on the left side of the "Primary Layers" to open that layer group and click on the dimension layer.  (NOTE:  Only parcels that are inside of a subdivision or parcels that are 1 acre or less have dimensions.)                   

How do I find out what voting precinct I live in?

1.  Perform a search

2.  Click on the and scroll down to the bottom of the pop-up window to find the name of your Voting Precinct.

3.  Under Voting Precinct you can click on the name of the Voting Precinct and that will link you to the Delaware County Board of Elections web site or you can click on "Map It" and it will link to the detailed map of that Voting Precinct which you can also print.                        

How do I create a buffer around my property?

1.  Perform a search

2.  Click on and a box will appear.  

3.  Enter the distance of your buffer as well as the measurement unit of interest (Feet or mile). Click on submit. The map will display all the parcels within the buffer. (NOTE: the buffer is preformed from the boundary of the property not the center of the property.)

4.  A box will appear that lists all of the properties within that buffer distance.  

5.  You can do a variety of things within this box:

- Click on an individual parcel number and the map will display that parcel in red cross hatched.
- Click on the “Print” button on the top of the page and the list will print.
- Click on the “Excel” button on the top of the page and it will take all of the information into an excel spreadsheet.You will be given a choice to either open the file in Excel or, save the file to your hard disk.

How do I create a buffer of condominium units around my property?

1.  Perform a search

2.  Click on and a box will appear.

3.  Enter the distance of your buffer as well as the measurement unit of interest (Feet or mile). Choose Condo in the "Target Layer of Buffer" menu. Click on submit. The map will display all the condo parcels within the buffer. (NOTE: the buffer is preformed from the boundary of the property not the center of the property.

4.  A box will appear that lists all of the condominium units within that buffer distance.

5.  You can do a variety of things within this box:

- Click on an individual parcel number and the map will display that parcel in red cross hatched.
- Click on the “Print” button on the top of the page and the list will print.
- Click on the “Excel” button on the top of the page and it will take all of the information into an excel spreadsheet.You will be given a choice to either open the file in Excel or, save the file to your hard disk.

How do I extract shape files?

1.  Perform a search

2.  Click on the and a file download box will appear allowing you to save the shape files.  NOTE:  The only layers that you will be able to extract are layers that are displayed on the screen (excluding the aerial photo). 

How do I link to the Delaware County Auditor's Appraisal web site after I have selected a given parcel?

1.  Perform a search 

2.  Click on and it will take you directly to the Delaware County Auditor's web site allowing you to obtain additional information about your property.

How do I display a layer on the map after I have turned it on?

1.  Click on .  

Note: as you turn layers on and off, each time you must click the Refresh button.

How do I display the photos of the front facade of a structure? 

1.  Perform a search

2.  Set your "Active Layer" to Addresses.

3.  A red point on the map indicates that there a structure on the parcel.

Click on the and click directly on the red dot and the identify window will appear.

4.  Next to "Image" is a .jpg file that you can click on to display the image.   

Note: Structure photos of new construction parcels are taken once a year in the summer.          

How do I turn a layer on or off?

1.  First identify the location of the layer (which tab and layer group) by visiting the layer information page. Next, expand that layer group by pressing on the dark blue button.

2.  Click in the box next to the layer name to remove or add the check mark.  

3.  Click on the tool.

How do I display layers?

1.  Open each layer group by clicking on the dark blue button.

How do I select a parcel without conducting a search?

1.  Use the zoom in tool . You may have to use the zoom in tool several times before you get to the desired extent.

2.  Once you have zoomed in, set your "active layer" to "Parcels" and click on the select tool .

3.  At this point, you can click on the button to obtain further information about the parcel.

Can I select features from every layer?

1.  No, the only layers that you can select are under the "Active Layer" drop down menu.

How can I obtain detailed information about each layer (where is the Metadata)?

1.  Set your "Active Layer" to the layer that you want to get information about.

2.  Click on the .

How do I measure the length and area of a parcel?

1.  Perform a search

2.  Click on the measurement tool .  

3.  In the box select "distance unit" along with "area unit" and click on the Submit button.

4.  Start in one corner of the parcel and click your left mouse button then go to the next corner and click the left mouse button again, continue doing this until you have measured around of your polygon.  you should see red lines drawn on the screen as you click your mouse. At the bottom of the map, the distance of each line is displayed in the segment box, as well as, the perimeter of the polygon. If you click close to the first point, the polygon will close and you can see the area displayed as well.

How do I display the legend?

1. Click on the legend tool and the legend will include a list of all displayed layers.

How do I find the closest GPS monument to my parcel and a drawing to its location?

1.  Perform a search

2. Expand the Secondary Tab by clicking on the dark blue dot and click on the box next to GPS points to turn it on.

3. Use the zoom out tool as many times as necessary to find GPS points.

4. Click on the and click directly on the GPS point to see its attributes as well as a PDF file for its location. Click on the PDF link to see the drawing.

Can I flip from one tab to another (i.e. from General to Census) once I have located my parcel?

1.  Yes. You can switch from one tab to another without having to go back to the main page. All four tabs are located on top of the map. 

Can I search for a road to see if it’s in Delaware County?

1.  Yes. Use the "search by address". Type in the street name and submit. If a pop up window appears and says "No Records Found", then the road is not in Delaware County. If a list appears in the"Results window", then you can look further for the address by scrolling through the names.

Can I search for all commercial properties in a certain tax district/city or township?

1. Yes. Use the "Custom Search". Select the appropriate land use code and tax district and submit.

How do I search for sales of properties between certain dates and in a particular area?

1. Use the "Custom Search". Type in the from and to dates, select the tax district from the drop down menu and "Submit". A list of properties appears in a pop-up window. You can zoom to each one, or you can print or save the spread sheet.

Can I zoom into an intersection and select all parcels or survey plats within a certain distance?

1. To locate the intersection conduct a "‘search by intersection" from under the Search. Type in the names of two streets and submit. Click the zoom to. A Blue dot appears in the intersection. At this point, click on Buffer tool and type in a distance from either the parcel or survey point and Submit. A list of parcels or survey points within that buffer will appear. You may either print or save the list in Excel format.

Can I locate and/or search for certain landmarks such as schools, fire stations, parks, and etc.?

1. Yes. You can display all land marks by expanding the Land mark Group layer and turn them all on and click Refresh. If you zoom out to the county extent you will see them all.

2. You can search by various land marks from Advanced Search - Other. In that window, click on the Commercial Radio button and type in the name of the land mark in the "Alias" field. For example, you can type in "Elementary School" and all elementary schools will be listed or you can type in McDonald's and all McDonald's restaurants within the county will be selected. You can then click on the link and the map zooms into the land mark.

How can I find out the legal description (PLSS) and/or farm lot for a parcel?

After selecting the parcel, identify it and click the Details bar. This window includes a field called "Legal" which shows the legal description of a parcel ( Example: 19-3-2-8 means Range 19, Township 3, Section 2, and Farm Lot 8. or a lot number for a parcel in a subdivision will appear).

How can I obtain information on Manholes and Sewer Lines?

1. After selecting a parcel or area of interest click the identify tool and then click directly on the manhole or sewer line. A box will pop up allowing you to choose an active layer to identify. Make sure that you select either manhole or sewer line from the drop down. This will allow you to view the attribute information.

How can I locate and identify a Farm Lot or PLSS in Plats/Survey?

1.After selecting a parcel or area of interest within the Plats/Survey Tab you must make sure both Farm lot and Farm lot number are turned on (have a check mark in the box). This will allow the Farm Lot lines to display in green and the Farm Lot numbers to be displayed in green circles. You can also identify a Farm Lot by clicking the identify tool and then click on your parcel of interest (select Farm Lot from the active layer list). Do the same thing as above to select and identify PLSS.

 

How do I identify soils on a property?

1.  Either start with or switch to tab.

2.  Perform a search

3.  Set your "Active Layer" to Soils.

4.  Under "Primary Layer" make sure that your Soils layer is turned on.  If it isn't turned on, click in the box to turn it on and then click on .

5.  Click on the identify tool . Each soil type will appear on the map.

How do I display contour lines (elevation)?

1.  Either start with or switch to tab.

2.  Perform a search

3.  Under "Primary Layer" make sure that your Contour lines layer is turned on.  If it isn't turned on, click in the box to turn it on and then click on . Each contour's elevation will also appear.

How do I find out if my parcel is in a 100-Yr flood plain?

1.  Either start with or switch to the tab.

2.  Perform a search

3.  Under "Primary Layer" make sure that the 100 Year Flood plains layer is turned on.  If it isn't turned on, click in the box to turn it on and then click on .

4.  The 100 Year Floodplain is displayed on the map as brown hatched lines.

How do I find a copy of a subdivision or condo's scanned recorded plat?

1.  Perform a search (Advanced search) for either condo or subdivision. If you are searching for a particular condo you may want to do the custom search and type the name of your condo under condo name. This will produce a list of all of your condo's with that name.

2.  A box will appear displaying the results and under the "Plat" column there is a link to a "PDF" file. Click on "PDF" for the subdivision or condo that you would like to view. The plat will display only if you have Adobe Acrobat installed on your PC.

How do I get a list of property owners with in a particular subdivision or condominium?  

1.   Perform a search (Advanced search) for either condo or subdivision under the Advanced subdivision search. This will produce a list of all of your condos/subdivisions with that name.

2.  The pop-up window will include the name of the subdivisions/condos along with its scanned plat in PDF format and also a "List". When you click on the "List", you will get a list of all parcels within that subdivision or condo plat.

How do I locate a survey plat and its scanned document?

1.   Perform a search

2.  Survey points are represented on the map as "S".  If you see a "S" on your parcel set "Active Layer"
to "Survey Point" and click on the identify button and then click directly on the "S".

3.  When the box appears you will see a "Link" to the PDF file. Click on the link and this will display the survey of your property. You must have Abode Acrobat installed on your PC to view PDF files.

Note: Survey symbols may not be directly on your parcel. You can use the zoom out tool to see if there are any in the vicinity and then identify or select the plat.

My Tools do not work and I have Norton AntiVirus Software installed on my PC. What do I do?

If you are using internet security software such as Norton Internet security and your tools do not work, do the following:

Open Norton Internet Security and from the Status and Settings tab go to Personal Firewall window

Set the security level of your personal firewall to Low.

You may have to clean your cache for this change to take effect.
